I don't like secrets. So, to make all this as transparent as possible, here is the breakdown of who gets what when a product is sold on this site.
Let's take the example of a product that has a sale price of $11.
If it is sold to an Australian customer, they pay $11, and $1 of that goes to the Australian government as GST (tax). If it is sold to a customer outside Australia, they pay $10 - no tax applies.
Of that $10, 5% (50 cents) is set aside to cover fees such as PayPal and credit card fees.
10% ($1) is allocated to the primary affiliate, and 5% (50 cents) to the secondary affiliate. (See this page if you want an explanation of what an affiliate is).
If the designer has a paid membership, they get 50% ($5) of the after-tax sales price. If they have a free membership, they get 20% ($2). (See this page if you want an explanation of what a designer is).
The remainder (30% to 60%) is for me (Christine Abela) for running the site. Of course, some of that goes to the Australian government as income tax!
