Kathy Adams began her quilt journey around 20 years ago.  Her 'inexpensive, relaxing hobby' has now become an obsession and the basis for a thriving business.  In 2003 Kathy decided there had to be a better way of finishing a quilt other than struggling with a domestic sewing machine.  She purchased her first Gammill long arm quilting machine, and KoolKat Quilting was born.  While the Gammill long arm quilting machine was a major step forward, this machine still required operation by hand. 

Kathy's next investment was a Statler Stitcher - this is a computerised Gammill long arm machine.  Now KoolKat Quilting could offer edge-to-edge or all-over quilting patterns with accurate stitch regulation.  The next step in offering a complete service to quilters was to provide personalised embroidered quilt labels using a 12 needle industrial embroidery machine.  It was inevitable that Kathy's quilting passion would lead to designing quilt patterns.  Kathy has a particular interest in the stained glass technique, and her first major design 'Gather Ye Rosebuds' has been produced as a Block of the Month and will shortly be available as a set of patterns.  She is particularly interested in bright fabrics and bold use of colour, and is drawn to Bali fabrics.  Bali fabrics are featured in her range of KoolKat Quilting patterns designed for quilters at all stages of their quilt respective quilt journeys. 

KoolKat Quilting has now quilted around 2000 quilts for quilting enthusiasts and some of Kathy's customers have taken out prizes at the Queensland Quilters annual quilt show and at the Brisbane Royal Show.
